Ten years after its founding, the search giant has not one, but three books, that are nicely reviewed in last weekend’s Financial Times. Randall Stross has the business history which according to the review nicely describes the evolution of the company and benefits from “rare insider access.” Then there’s another one by a French intellectual—the former head of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France—who argues that Google is going to drive everyone’s stuff to English. The reviewer describes Google as “ill-tempered.” And then there’s a more ambivalent book on Google’s impact on society. The FT review is worth a look. I’ve just ordered Stross’ book and will write more after I’ve read it.
