  • Marketing to the Masses (on Facebook)

You don’t have to go to market to be in the marketplace anymore – that’s what Facebook is for. Feel free to browse categories anywhere from collectibles to cars to clothing and accessories. Facebook just launched a revamped version of Marketplace powered by Oodle.

Not only can you sell it for profit but you can sell it for a cause, give it away and even ask for it. The different functionalities of this application not only enable traditional e-commerce but allow you to sell old stuff and donate the proceeds to charity so round up some of your goods and do some good for a charity like The American National Red Cross.

As Karen Webster observed in a recent post, Famous Facebook Ad End-Around, news of friends selling anything from bicycles to real estate have been cropping up on newsfeeds which only leads us to wonder, are those the types of “notifications” we are going to want to see when all we’ve come to do is check up on “status updates” and the sort? We’ll see how Facebook sorts this one out and who ends up upping their bottom line.
