The Twitter Fad
When I heard that the Moldavian kids had organized a veritable revolution through twittering each other I thought that I should recant my views that twittering would last about as long as the hula hoop. What is a fad? Twitter’s unprecedented 3,000% growth (comScore) cannot be ignored. Those that succeed in today’s business environment will be the most nimble at adapting to continuous change. Innovation is now driven by the consumer and the power of the community voice. If you haven’t noticed, the monoliths have crumbled. One cannot ignore any component of the (r) evolution that social media is driving. Although the landscape is constantly changing, it has moved to a true democratization of communication.
Personally, I have been able to access, and exchange ideas with, people all over the world, including founders of large companies, through Twitter. The import of Twitter is more relevant than its duration.
